DHAKA, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) – The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has set up e-Return Help Desks in all tax zones across the country to facilitate smooth and hassle-free submission of online income tax returns by the esteemed taxpayers.

Earlier on August 4, 2025, Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed formally inaugurated the e-Return submission system for the 2025-26 tax year. Taxpayers can now easily fill out and submit their returns online through the website www.etaxnbr.gov.bd.

According to NBR, around 2.92 million taxpayers have registered with the e-Return system so far while 635,000 have already submitted their income tax returns for the current tax year through the online platform, said an NBR press release.

If any taxpayer faces difficulties in registering for the e-Return system and fails to submit their return online, they may apply to the Deputy Commissioner of Taxes concerned by October 31, 2025, with specific justification. Subject to approval from the respective Additional or Joint Commissioner, they will be allowed to file a paper return.

To make the e-Return process easier to understand, NBR has continued its tradition of offering online training for taxpayers and tax practitioners this year as well.

Interested individuals can register for the training through the following link: https://nbr.gov.bd/form/e-return-training/eng. The date and time of the training sessions will be shared via email, and so far, around 15,000 taxpayers have received such training.

For any issues related to e-Return, NBR has also established a dedicated call center. Taxpayers can dial 09643 71 71 71 to receive instant telephonic assistance.

Besides, they can submit written queries through the eTax Service option on the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd website.

Taxpayers can now pay their taxes conveniently from home using bank transfers, debit or credit cards, or mobile financial services such as bKash, Rocket, or Nagad. Upon successful payment, they can instantly download the acknowledgement slip and generate the income tax certificate automatically.

No physical documents are required to be uploaded during the online filing process. However, taxpayers must keep all supporting papers and evidence on record for future reference.

NBR has urged all eligible individual taxpayers to submit their income tax returns online in a timely manner through the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd portal, accurately disclosing their income, expenditure, assets, and liabilities – as part of fulfilling their civic duty.
