Citizen Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, convener Debapriya Bhattacharya on Wednesday said that Bangladesh was now in the middle of a democratic transition; so it was expected that a transparent, impartial and an acceptable election would be held in the country.
He also said that expectation to the politicians was that the government which would be elected through the acceptable elections, would work for the welfare of the people and the interest of the country.
Debapriya came up with the remarks at media briefing arranged by Citizen Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, held at BRAC Inn center at Moakhali in Dhaka.
He also said, ‘We hope that the government will work for the welfare of the people as the civic platform has prepared strategic research by working across the country to overcome the crisis of the future and inclusive development.’
He also said that the development that was discussed in Bangladesh is in the average, the growth of the country was so much, the per capita income was so much.
‘But we have tried to see from a segmented level how the situation of the backward groups in the society.’
Debapriya said, ‘Bangladesh is now dreaming of becoming a high-income country. To realise this dream, first of all we need to bring diversification in exports while the productivity should be increased in the country.’
The Citizen Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh arranged the briefing on Citizen Agenda for Inclusive Development and Equity: Agriculture, Employment, Unplanned Urbanization and Public Services and Clean and Affordable Energy.
