DHAKA, Dec 24, 2025 (BSS) – The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today framed charges against four accused, including two former officials of Border
Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a crimes against humanity case over the killing of 28 people during the July Mass Uprising.

The accused are former BGB officials Mohammad Redwanul Islam and Md Rafat Bin Alam, former Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan
Police Md Rashedul Islam, and former Officer-in-Charge of Rampura Police Station Md Moshiur Rahman. Of them, the two former BGB officials are currently in custody and were produced before the tribunal during the hearing.

The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order, rejecting the discharge petitions filed by the accused. The
tribunal also fixed January 20, 2026, for placing the prosecution’s opening statement in the case.

Earlier, Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam argued in favour of framing
charges against the four accused. Advocate Hamidul Misbah submitted the
discharge petition on behalf of the two former BGB officials, while Md Amir
Hossain appeared as state defence counsel for the two fugitive accused.

According to the prosecution, at least 28 people were killed and many others
injured in the Rampura area of the capital during the July Mass Uprising. It
was alleged that former BGB official Mohammad Redwanul Islam was seen firing
