The protest demanding the removal of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC Chairman Khurshid Alam entered its third consecutive day today (3 June), as members of the “Islami Bank Sacheton Grahok Forum” resumed their demonstrations in front of the bank’s head office.
The protesters initiated a procession from the premises of the bank’s head office towards the Press Club. They are currently staging a sit-in in front of the Secretariat.

He further said, “The decision was linked to his involvement in financial irregularities during the previous government’s tenure. Appointing such an individual as chairman could pose a threat to the stability of any banking institution.”
Describing Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC as one of the largest banks in Southeast Asia, he warned that its collapse would have serious repercussions for the national economy.
He added, “The ongoing movement is being conducted in a structured and lawful manner, and we urge the government to ensure proper governance of the bank by reinstating individuals who previously contributed to its development in managerial roles.”
He also claimed that a former chairman of the bank had similarly failed to safeguard the interests of depositors.
