At least 9,951 people were killed and 12,356 injured in 6,749 road accidents in 2022, which is the highest in last eight years, according to Bangladesh Jatri kalyan Samity.
Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, secretary general of the Samity, revealed the information at a press conference at Dhaka Reporter’s Unity today.
At least 550 people were killed and 201 were injured in 606 rail-related accidents in 2022, he also said.
Besides, 357 people were killed, 318 injured and 743 went missing in 262 riverine accidents last year, he added.
