IGP’s tenure extended for 1.5yrs

The government has extended Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun’s tenure as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for another one and a half years.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun would be appointed on a contractual basis upon suspension of his post-retirement leave and its related facilities, read a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday.

The one-and-a-half-year tenure will start on January 12, 2023 or on the date of his joining the post. The order was issued in the public interest, added the notification.

Eighth Batch BCS Police Cadre Officer Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was appointed as IGP on September 22, 2022. Prior to this, he was promoted to grade-1 on 18 October 2021. He was supposed to retire on January 11 after completing his tenure.
