The runway of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka will remain closed for five hours each night for the next two months for renovation of the runway lighting system.
This work will start from 2am on Thursday. Air traffic will remain suspended from 2am to 7am every day. Flights at this time have been shifted to other times of the day.
The airport’s Executive Director Mohammad Kamrul Islam said, “Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has taken the initiative to install lights on the central line of the runway in an effort to increase the capacity of flight management and further improve the quality of passenger services.
“For this, the runway will be closed from February 2 to April 3 from 2am to 7am. A notam has been issued in this regard by the ATM department of the airport.”
