Bangladesh Under-20 National Women’s Team thrashed Nepal 3-0 in the final of the SAFF U20 Women’s Championship to be crowned the champions at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mostofa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday.

Shahada Akter Ripa was the star of the show as the winger scored the opening goal and then provided the assist for the third.

The other two goals were scored by skipper Shamsunnahar Jr and second-half substitute Unnoti Khatun.

This win means Bangladesh are now the defending South Asian Champions of U19, U20, and Senior Women’s football.

Bangladesh were on the front foot from the start of the match but failed to break the deadlock as they missed a few clear opportunities.

However, it was Ripa, who had missed a penalty in their last match against Bhutan, who put Bangladesh ahead with a sumptuous finish from outside the box in the 42nd minute.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Shamsunnahar Jr doubled the lead as she was put through on goal by Aklima Akter and the Bangladesh skipper coolly poked it past the Nepal goalkeeper.

It was game over in the 87th minute when Ripa put in a beautiful delivery from a free kick just outside the Nepal box, which Unnoti tapped in at the far post.
