The proposed budget has no specific directions for the export-oriented textile and ready-made garment (RMG) sector, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Faruque Hassan said on Friday.
The apparel body had proposed that the source tax be set at 0.50 per cent for the upcoming fiscal year as it was in FY22, considering the ongoing tough condition, he said while addressing a press conference on the proposed budget for FY24.
Faruque urged the government again to set the source tax at 0.50 per cent and implement it for the next five years. Besides, he also requested the government to withdraw a 10 per cent tax on cash assistance.
