DHAKA, May 18, 2026 (BSS) – The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed all customs houses and stations across the country to remain operational on a limited scale during the upcoming Eid al-Azha holidays to ensure uninterrupted import and export activities.

According to an NBR notification today, customs operations will continue during all public and weekly holidays from May 25 to May 31, 2026, except on the day of Eid-ul-Azha itself.

As per the notification, the move was aimed at maintaining the momentum of foreign trade and avoiding congestion at ports and customs stations during the holiday period.

Under the directive, customs activities on a limited scale will continue at the customs houses and stations in Dhaka, Chattogram, Benapole, ICD Kamalapur, Mongla, Pangaon, ICD Chattogram and Bhomra.

The directive has also been extended to commissioners of Customs, Excise and VAT commissionerates across the country, including those in Dhaka North, South, East and West, as well as Rajshahi, Jashore, Khulna, Sylhet, Rangpur, Cumilla, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Barishal, Mymensingh and Cox’s Bazar.

To facilitate customs-related financial transactions during the holidays, the NBR requested the Bangladesh Bank Governor to instruct relevant commercial banks to remain open as necessary.

The revenue board also asked major trade bodies and business associations to inform their members about the special arrangements.

These include the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association (BFFA), Bangladesh Shipping Agents Association and Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association.

The initiative reflects the government’s efforts to maintain trade activities and ensure supply chain stability during the Eid holidays.
