DHAKA, Aug 14, 2026 (BSS) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has significantly strengthened security across the capital ahead of August 15, putting in place a comprehensive, multi-layered security strategy to safeguard public safety and maintain law and order.
The heightened security measures include intensified patrols, checkpoints and search operations across the city, with additional screening at all major entry points to Dhaka.
Police have also stepped up surveillance in areas considered sensitive or vulnerable to any potential disruption.
Members of the Detective Branch (DB) and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) have been deployed for operational duties, while SWAT, Bomb Disposal and K-9 units will conduct systematic security sweeps at key installations and major public gathering points.
Important government and strategic installations have been placed under special security arrangements.
CCTV cameras and drone surveillance will be used to maintain close watch over critical locations and identify potential security threats at an early stage.
The City Special Branch (CSB) and Intelligence Analysis Division (IAD) will continue intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance in plain clothes.
Additional teams from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will also remain deployed as part of the broader security coordination.
To ensure a rapid response to any emergency, adequate Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will remain on standby at strategic locations.
Additional police personnel will be deployed beyond routine assignments at event venues, major intersections, metro rail stations, bus terminals, launch terminals, railway stations, shopping malls and other sensitive areas.
Senior DMP officials will remain in the field and directly supervise security arrangements within their respective jurisdictions throughout the period.
The DMP said the intensified security measures are aimed at preventing any untoward incident, ensuring uninterrupted public movement and maintaining a safe and peaceful environment across the capital on and around August 15.
