DHAKA, Sept 17, 2026 (BSS) — The Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West) has uncovered VAT evasion amounting to Tk 82,03,005 during a raid at Shopping Zone BD, a business establishment in the capital’s Shyamoli area.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) said in a press release today that, acting on a tip-off and on the instructions of the VAT Commissioner, Dhaka (West), a surprise raid was conducted at Shopping Zone BD at 12/1/4, Road-2, Shyamoli, on September 16.
The NBR said the establishment sells garments through its own showroom as well as online platforms. During the raid, evidence of VAT evasion was found, prompting the authorities to seize the CPU and various business documents under Mushak-12.3 for further verification.
According to the press release, preliminary scrutiny of the seized sales-related information found sales amounting to Tk 109,373,400. Against these sales, the amount of evaded VAT was calculated at Tk 82,03,005.
The NBR said further scrutiny and verification of the seized documents are underway, following which legal proceedings, including filing a case against the establishment, will be initiated as per law.
