13 special trains to operate for transporting passengers, cattle in Eid

DHAKA, May 8, 2026 (BSS) – Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Railway will operate 10 special trains for passengers and three special cattle trains to facilitate smooth travel for homebound passengers and cattle traders.

“Bangladesh Railway also suspended weekly off-days for all (intercity) trains from May 23 until the day before Eid,” Director General of Bangladesh Railway Md Afzal Hossain said.

He said additional coaches would also be added on routes to meet higher ticket demand.

According to a preparatory meeting on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha held yesterday, Chandpur Eid special-1 will leave Chattogram at 3:30pm and reach Chandpur at 8:20pm while Chandpur Eid special-2 will leave Chandpur at 4pm and arrive in Chattogram at 8:50am the following day on the Chattogram-Chandpur-Chattogram route.

Teesta Eid special-3 will leave Dhaka at 9:30am and reach Dewanganj at 4:10pm, while Teesta Eid special-4 will leave Dewanganj at 4:30pm and arrive in Dhaka at 11:20pm on Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka route.

Sholakia Eid special-5 will leave Bhairab Bazar at 6am and reach Kishoreganj at 8am while Sholakia Eid special-6 will leave Kishoreganj at 12pm and arrive in Bhairab Bazar at 2pm on Bhairab Bazar-Kishoreganj-Bhairab Bazar route.

Sholakia Eid special-7 will leave Mymensingh at 5:45am and reach Kishoreganj at 8:30am while Sholakia Eid special-8 will leave Kishoreganj at 12pm and arrive in Mymensingh at 3pm on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh route.

Sholakia Eid special-5, 6, 7 and 8 will operate only on the Eid day, the director general said, adding, that if the Eid-ul-Azha is observed on May 28, the trains will also operate from May 30 to June 1 after Eid.

Parbatipur Eid special-9 will leave Joydebpur at 7pm and reach Parbatipur at 2am the following day while Parbatipur Eid special-10 will leave Parbatipur at 8:15am and arrive in Joydebpur at 2:20pm on Joydebpur-Parbatipur-Joydebpur route.

The meeting said that Chandpur Eid special-1 and 2, and Teesta Eid special-3 and 4 will operate from May 25 until the day before Eid.

Meanwhile, Parbatipur Eid special-9 and 10 will run from May 24 to May 26 before Eid, and for three days from the day after Eid.

Besides, three special trains will be operated for transporting sacrificial animals on Dewanganj-Dhaka and Islampur-Dhaka routes.

Railway authorities said all Eid tickets will be sold online. A passenger can purchase tickets only once for advance and return journeys, with a maximum of four tickets per transaction. Advance and return tickets will not be refundable.

To ensure safe and smooth Eid travel, authorities will strengthen security at major railway stations, prevent ticket black marketing, stop roof-top travel and operate mobile courts during the holiday period.
