DHAKA, July 25, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman today visited Neela Market in Purbachal New Town as part of the central bank’s Bangla QR campaign aimed at promoting digital payments across the country.
During the visit, senior officials of Bangladesh Bank, along with representatives of banks and payment service providers, accompanied the governor, said a press release.
The governor toured different shops in the market and exchanged views with traders and customers.
He highlighted the benefits of Bangla QR-based digital transactions and urged people to use the platform as a secure, fast and convenient payment method for their everyday purchases.
To demonstrate the ease of using the system, the governor purchased various items from the market and paid through Bangla QR.
He expressed hope that his initiative would encourage greater awareness and wider adoption of Bangla QR among both consumers and merchants.
Bangladesh Bank has been carrying out the Bangla QR campaign to expand cashless transactions and strengthen the country’s digital payment ecosystem.
