DHAKA, Sept 27, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Bank (BB) has offered incentives to banks and payment service institutions to encourage wider use of Bangla QR-based transactions among small and marginal merchants and service providers.
According to a circular issued by the central bank’s Payment Systems Department today, acquiring institutions will receive an incentive at the rate of 0.10 percent while issuing institutions will get 0.20 percent for each Bangla QR-based transaction of up to Taka 2,000 conducted through the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) platform.
The incentive will be provided on a monthly basis against transactions made by small and marginal vendors and service providers onboarded through personal retail accounts, as well as other merchants holding valid trade licences.
The circular said that the new provision has been introduced by replacing the relevant provision of an earlier circular issued on August 10, 2026, with a view to encouraging wider adoption of Bangla QR-based transactions.
All other terms and conditions mentioned in the earlier circular will remain unchanged, it added.
